By the mid-50s Longbridge was producing almost 200,000 vehicles per year, and had a workforce of 21,ooo. The 60s arrival even saw the construction of an onsite multi-storey car park to accommodate all the newly produced vehicles prior to distribution. A modern Health Department was built, replete with X-ray machines, dental equipment and ambulance stations, to support the workforce’s health and welfare.
